Amie Burkholder is a K–5 Literacy Coach, national speaker, and literacy consultant dedicated to helping teachers unlock the potential of every young reader. With a Bachelor of Science in Reading PK–6, a Master’s in Literacy Leadership K–12, and certifications in Orton-Gillingham and LETRS (Levels 1–4), Amie brings together deep research knowledge and real classroom experience.

She is the author of the upcoming book Literacy Unlocked: How to Implement the Science of Reading with Young Learners (Jossey-Bass, 2025) and the creator of the Foundations to Fluency phonics curriculum, approved by the Virginia Literacy Act. Through her Route2Reading Membership, podcast, and professional development sessions, Amie helps educators take research-based practices and make them practical, engaging, and doable for real classrooms.

Amie is known for her warm, energetic teaching style and her ability to simplify complex literacy concepts into actionable routines teachers can implement the next day. She is passionate about supporting teachers and building strong readers from the very beginning.
